The man pleaded guilty. Mr. Dyer Ball, who prosecuted for the Crowp, said that on the night in question the prisonor, a seaman, called at the house ci the injured man, also a seaman,{ and asked to be given a bad. After some demur, the visitor! was given a pipe of opium and the two men sat up smoking, whilst the women went to sleep. The householder later fell to sleep and was awakened by the prisoner standing over bim with 4.0 Axe in his hand. It Was discovered later that the man had already brutal- ly attacked the women with the AXC. A struggle took place be- tween the men in which the husband was very severely cut about. He climbed out on to some scaffolding round the house. | trying to escape, and the prisoner then prodded him with a bamboo. causing him to fall off into the road below. The prisoner ran away, but police arrived soon afterwards. The prisoner was eventually found two hours later

1. Goo... MALES came to the conclusion that he ha was Wong Ying and detained him until an Inspector arrived. The man was later ideatified. The three people, said Mr. Dyer Bali, had received most terrible injuries and the man and woman would be disfigured for life. The only-motive the police could sug gest was that of robbery, because there was $300 in the house to- gether with other monies. Pri- soner had been there before.
His Lordship told prisoner hel was lucky in not being charged with murder. He was a most dangerous character and he the Chief Justice) would be falling in his duty if he ever allowed such a man to be at large again. "The sentence is that you will be imprisoned for the term of your natural life.
