Mr. A. Dyer Ball conducted the case for the Crown and Mr. N. I. Brewer appeared for the defence.

The jury were Messrs. W. F. Ford (foreman), S. 8. Church, PR Glendinning. I. G. Rosario, Chan Shiu-tsan, V. G. Ke-ley and A. C. Franklin.

Mr. Dyer Ball, outlining the facts, told the Court that at a quarter to six on the evening of Oct. 13th, two employees in ย Chinese banka shroff and al small boy were sent out by the

A round off manager to make eleven other Chinese banks to collect various soms of money. They had visited nine banks and' had collected $2,790.50. which sum reposed in the shroff's wallet. The ninth bank visited was in Des Voeux Road Central, opposite Sincere's. The next bank a which they had to call was in the same road. opposite the Wing On Company.

Instead of continuing, along Des Voeux Road, the shroff and small boy went along Wing Lok Street and turned to the right down Rumsey Street. When near a latrine in the latter street, the pair were set upon by three men. Two seized the shroff and one the small boy. They were taken icside the latrine, where the men relieved the shroff of the $2,700) and then ran away.

running commenced the direction of Des Voeux Central, but was seen by a Chin-' ese constable, who arrested him.

Nothing was found on prisoner, and when charged be denied heving taken part in the robbery. He was walking along Wellington Street, he said, when he was suddenly seized.

Mr. Dyer Ball mentioned that two days after the offence the shroff disappeared.

The jury might come to the conclusion that he was an accomplice, but -before they decided that that was the cse he asked them to re- member that the shroff joined in the chase, he blew his police whistle. he called at Central Police Station and he allowed two days to elapse before he dis appeared.

The hearing is proceeding.
