THE LATEST PAPER TABLE NAPKINS,
Except for children's parties, picnics and other informal and fastive occasione, few people care to place paper serviettes upon their tables.
But this objection has now been overcome in the introduc- tion of a paper table napkin of heavy white crepe paper that. simulates damask in its all-over white design. The illusion is further helped by the addition of an embossed hemstitched edge.
White tablecloths in paper to match are also to be bought,
WALKING STICKS AGAIN.
Smart Parisennes are attending the races on cool days, when sun- shades are not in demand, armed with tall, slender, walking sticks.
Scarlet lacquer, ebony and car- ved and painted sticks are to be seen, chosen mostly to match or in contrast to the rest of the toilette. The large knob with which some of them are finished at the top is often the receptacle for such important toilet necessi- ties as a wee mirror, powder puff and lip salve, revealed by pressing a hidden spring in the knob.
There is of course, a right and a quite wrong manner of walking with, and generally disposing of these smart sticks. A self con. scious swagger is ridiculous' but the woman who can show a pretty turn of the wrist in carrying one and use it with an elegant studied neglience, bas in her walking stick a new aid in the display of a good carriage and neat figura.
