for the manufacturo of liquid air, liquid oxygen can now be produc ed cheaply on a large scale. It is made from liquid air by per- mitting the nitrogen, which evaporates at a lower temper ature, to boll sway, leaving practically pure liquid oxygen. The chief expanse of its commer- cial production is said by manu- facturers to be the cost of the steel pressure-cylinders, tested up to 3,000 pounds, which are neces sary for long-distance transport. ation; but this is overcome when used for blasting by making it at the mine. The Germans are said. to have made much use of liquid [oxygen for blasting purposes dur- ing the war. I was unsuitable for a military explosive and was used therefore wherever possible in place of the expensive nitrogen containing explosives which were essential at the front."--Ex.

THE PRINCE'S LATCHKEY.
Fictitious Story of His Having to Break Into Palace.
The Daily Chronicle contradicts a statement, published in London Įthat one night recently the Princo of Wales, having forgotten his latchkey, had broken into his apartments at St. James's Palace by smashing a skylight.
It was further said that Prince's action was prompted by consideration for his servants.
The absurdity of the story in emphasised by the fact that there is always a policeman outside the door all night, who is provided with a key. Moreover, there B7G two night belle, and a ring t withers would result in the im- mediate opening of the door by member of the night.staff.
