How It Was Celebrated.

The New Year holidays brought with them many of the customary Demand celebrations here. On New Year's 30 d. Eve ti era were many private 10 d.. parties, and the Old Year was seen out with all the usual en- thusiasm. The ring of crackers, the rounding at ships' sirens and the ringing of church bells, herald- ed in 1923 in noisy fashion. Watch Night services were held in some of the churches.
