A Clot of Blood

la an interview to-day, he stated that the journey had occupied nearly two years. He had traversed a great part of West China

and the whole of Eastern Tibet. The journey had been perfectly peaceful, even in the worst brigand-infested provinces of China- Shensi and Szechuen. All he had to do was to inform the magis- trate, who arranged with the brigands that he should not be at- tacked.

He was welcomed everywire in Tibet, and permitted to enter Lhasa where he was the guest of the Commander-in-Chief. He also met the Dalai Lama.

HERR CUNO AND REPARATIONS.

Berlin. Dec. 4. Herr Cano, the German Chancellor, in an address before the Press Union, said that those acquainted with German conditions. realised that nothing more could be done regarding the question of Reparations than indicated in the German Note, addressed to the Reparations' Commission on November 18.

The only way out of the situation would be an open discussion among the parties concerned.

The German Government, said the Chancellor, would not be influenced by ultimatums and threats of further occupations of territory.

Germany would not consent to the surrender of the Rhine Pro- vince, the Bavarian Palatinate, the Saar district or endangering the postponement of their liberation.
