Original Vernes In An Old Book.

Four original varses by, Robert Burna have been discovered in an [old volume which was sold at

Sotheby's last month.

The book is called "The British” Album, "bound in old showg, and Idated 1790. Inside is a nosa of the original owner John Syme, who was a friend of Buras, and accompanied bìm through the Sławartry of Kirkcudbright, and was one of the executors of his will.

On page 18 of the book is a note. wrote by Robert Barns. who had the loan of this book Jana 1793. Where Borna bas written hines in perail in the book, Syme has inked them over.

Four original verses by. Burns are in the book, as well as other iosoriptions, some of which have been reproduced in Stewart's "Poems ascribed to Robert Burns, Gla»guw 1801.

The other verses do not appear to have been published; they in- ¡clude a stanza written at the end" of Della Crusca's Ode to Folly:
