JAPANESE BANK FAILS.

Vancouver, R. G. April 5- The Nippon Klayu Shi, à Japan- jaso bank, olosed its doors to-day, The bank's liabilities are $240,000 and the assets $225,000.

CHINESE CEMENT FACTORY.

A Chinesa marobant named Liu Hung-shen is planning to erect Ja plant for the manufacture of cement at Lunghwa. Machinery bas already been ordered from Germany. Building will be com- menced in April.

SINO-JAPANESE WIRELESS

CONTRACT.

The Walchiaopu and the Japan- one Legation are discussing a Japanese wireless contract. In ||1914, the Ministry of the Navy concluded an agreement with the Japanese firm of Nisshin Kisen Kalsha for construction of a wire- less plant in Shuangchino, near Tungchow. The price was fixed at £536,000. Work was institut- ed in accordance with the terms of the contract in 1920, and while it is virtually completed, the Chinese authorities claim there bas beeo

violation of (contracted terms. They say that it WES agreed that the wireless plant should include an electric apparatus that the | Japaness overlooked, substituting therefor a steam plant. The result is, they say, that it is doubtful if the wireless plant cal dispatch and receive message as intended. For this reason, the Waichisopu demands that the contract be so modified that there shall be a reduction in price of £200,000.
