RUINED BY STRIKES AT SHIP+ BUILDING YARDS.
A number of new facts repeti- ing the failure of the Stella Ship. ping Co., of Cardiff, are revealed communication to the shareholders. In connection with the contract with the Burntisland, Shipbuilding · Co. for 6,300-tonner on line terms, it is stated that time and-
she should have been delivered in Dec., 1920, but by reason of strikes was not ready for launching unn! September last. The company. with the bank's approvel mold instalments amounting to £108,00 and the price increased from £170,000 to £210,000. The com pany was asked to End another £100,000 bat the bankers declined. to allow any such sum to be paid. The reason for this was that the value of the steamer was no more. than £70,000. Negotiations were entered into with the builders. but were broken off in October.

In addition there are the claims of the Crown for excess profits and other monies, approximately £61,000, ship repairers $15,000, and small claims £3,000. There- fore, to discharge its fiabilities, the company would want more than £250,000 over and above the present saleable value of tas steamers.
Captain W. A. Hepburn, man- aging director of the company, was holder of 15,000 shares bought at or above par, and was creditor of the company for un- drawn management and directors' fees for nearly £15,000. Ha mino managed another company, which #as in a similar position & yes! ago he was a rich man, but now had nothing.
