SHIPBREAKING BOOM. Whils the world's shipbuilding

industry has undergone a trem endous decline of late and is facing an almost unprecedented depression, the business of ship- breaking, says the Nautical Gazette, is enjoying KR el- traordinary boom. Including the U.S. Shipping Board's obsolete wooden ships, it has been estima ed that fully 18 per cent, or 11,000,000 groes tona, of the world's existing merchant fleet is ready for the scrap beap. The process of welding out ships which have outlived their osefulness is already in full swing- There has just been announced the coming demolition after 33 years' active service of the former White Star steamer Teutonic, once holder of the blue ribbon of the Atlantic, which is said to have been sold to her disosatiers for less than £10,000. A firm of British shipbreakers secured the ex-Hamburg-American liner Gra? Walderses for the sum of £4,000,
