PROGRESS OF MOTOR SHIPS. Mr. James Richardson, of tha firm of MessTE. William Beard- more and Sons, speaking in Loo- doa on the subject of "The Pro- gress of the Motor Ship," predicted that the motor ship would be the cargo carrier of the future. At the outbreak of war oil-engined vessels represented less than baif per cent of the world's total. At the present time the figure was in excess of two per cent., and but for the war wou'd have been greater. In 1913 six thousand tons of Diesel oil ships were | launched, while building last year there were eight times the total tonnige in 1913.
