INFERIOVITY OF GERMÁN AND! BELGIAN IRON.
The management of the Yawata Ironworks states that on the Osaka-Kobe and Yokohama markets stocks are now 250,000 tons. In comparison with the figure of 350,000 tons last autumn, there is a decrease of 100,000 tons, but as the present demand is confined to very small quantities, a very long tinio will be required before these stocks are all cleared off. The management goes on to stato that if imports of Germani and Belgian iron at Y120 continu ed to increase, the market in to an inconceivable degree, but that this menace hae now passed away as the iron so far imported by some merchants has been found so inferior in quality that The undersigned are prepared it can hardly be used, and no to quote prices for best quality further orders are being placed.
