OPPOSES ANTI-ALIEN BILL,
The Seattle Chamber of Com-" merce is taking a specific stand in apposition to the passage of the Anti-Alien, bill, which has been passed by the lower house of the state legislature. The Bill provides that no alien who can- not become a citizen of the U.S. shall be permitted to own land in the State, and is aimed parti- cularly at Japanese. The strong One Hundred Per Cent... Club of Seattle also endorse the stand of the Chamber, claiming that "the entire matter is one" for Federal consideration solely.
MOVEMENTS OF LUMBER CARGOES,
Among the lumber cargoes recently moving from Puget Sound ports are: Steamer West Ivis with 450.000 feet for Japan; Santa Inez with 4 2,000 feet for the West Coast, Melville Dollar with 1,000,000 feet of ties for China; Las Vegas with 6490,000 feet for Australia; Arizona Maru with 218,000 feet for Japan; West Holbrook with 750,000 feet for Australia; Tokushima Mara with 300,000 feet for Japan; Salvator with 508,000 feet for the Weat Coast; aud the Camano with 800,000 feet for the West Coást.
SEATTLE'S COMMERCIAL IN 1920. While Seattle's trans-Pacific trade, in common with that of other Pacific coast ports, showed a slump in 1920, due to a diver sion of cargo through the Panama Canal to Atlantic ports and to financial troubles in the Orient, decided gains word shown in the movement of products of this port to the other side of the Atlantic. Shipments to Great Britain totaled 64,320 in 1920 as compared with 20,540 tone in 1919. Exports to Belgium doubled last year. The year also marked the initial movement of cargo from this grtaway to Portugal Norway, Bweden, and Germany. Exports of Washington producta to South America increased from 6.000 tons in 1919 to 33,000 tons in 1920.
