A gale visited the British Isles yesterday, attaining a maximum velocity of seventy miles an hour and causing havoc on land and sea. There is considerable loss of life. The lifeboat Rhoscolyn, assisting a vessel in distress in Carnarvou Bay, was lost with five of her crew, ar.including the coxswain. The crew of the vessel took to the boats and
