In the City Chambers. Edin- borgh, recently. Lord Provost Wotherspo. Perth, presid-d over a gathering presentative of Local Authorities and other interests in Scotland supporting the proposal to raise the status of the Secretary for Scotland to that of a Secretary of State.
Mr D. Roberson, Depute Town-Clerk of Edinburgh, said that invitations had be sent to 40 public bodies, including the larger burch, County Councils, of Commerce and Agriculture.
Lord. Provng: Wotherspoon said the raising of the status of the Scottish Secretary was only what was due to Scotland. He did not think they would have long to wait till their wishes were consummated. It would result in very great benefit to Scotland. · (Applause.)
