Friday evering the Hongkong University Engineering Society bèld its fifth manual dinner and concert in the Great Hall of the Laiversity, which wa's beautifully decorated with flags. planta and festoons of Chinese lanterns. About, one hundred members and guests were present- and an extremely enjoyable even- ing was spent.

After the loyal tonats had been duly honoured. Professor Redmond Proposed the teasts of "Our Sister Societies, which was replied to by Professor Digby, President of the H.K.U. Medical Society, and by Professor Brayshay, President of the Arts Association.

Col. H. B. Mortimer, son of a former headmaster of the City of London School, speaking, at a dinner of the John Carpenter Club aid when the old school was in Honey-iane Market they! used to play football in Victoria Park. In the House of Comicons replying to Colonel Burn, Mr. Williamson said that authority had been given for the ten British Officers nuw in Shanghai in charge of repatriated Chinese Labour Corps men to return to England. It was anticipated that they would embark when their duties were completed. Arrangements were being made whereby the Com- mand Paymasters at Hongkong would issue them advances of pay and detention allowance while waiting in Shanghai.

CHINESE HONOURS FOR BRITISH OFFICERS.

The Chinese Government has conferred the Order of Wenhu on twenty British Officers of the Y. M. C. A., including Sir Arthur Yapp, who also receives the Third Class as a mark of appreciation of his services in the Y. M. C. 4. in connection with the Chinese Labour Corps in France.
