It is authoritatively stated that the Bolshevist negotiations with Lithuania have broken down and resumption is improbable. Deni- kin's military situation is going from bad to worse. The Bolshe- vik claims of large captures in mat- erial leave little hope that Deni- kin will succeed in keeping, back the overwhelming Reds. The North Caspian Reds have taken Guriet, the base of the Ural Cos sacks, and are converging on Ser. giopol, the headquarters of Dutov whose retreat is threatened every- where. It is doubtful if Dutor will be able to withdraw except into Chinese Mongolia. The Reds are pushing back Koltchak's main body which has now practically ceased to count as a military fac- tor. A Red column in far north Siberia has occupied Berezov, four hundred miles north of Totsolsk.
