Commander Basil Taylour, R. N. Harbour Master of Hongkong. who returned to the Colony yesterday on the s.s. Coloumbia, has, during his absence from the Colony, been serving in various capacities in France and else- where under the British Naval authorities. He left Hongkong in April, 1915, and has been on active service practically the whole time he has been

away. His duties, during the war, have been centered chiefly in transport w. he having been Naval Transport Officer in Charge| at various ports including Harrre. Cherbourg, St. Vallast Fla Hooge, and the Lamos Peninsula (where the battle of Cap le Hague was fought) Ste. Valery-sur-Somme and Treport. From the last named place, he was sent to Frecamp and from thenre to Trouville; his work also covering the ports Caen and Hondeur. In January, 1918, he was sent to Genoa as Port Convoy Officer.
