THE FEMINISM OF TO-MORROW.

In these wonderful days of extraordinary events; of thrones tumbling into ruins, of emperors fleeing before their peoples, and cutthroats misruling a great country, not the least wonderful happening is the emancipation of women in Britain. After long centuries of suppression, and subjection to men and man- made laws, woman is now facing the vista of a new exa for womankind. True, she is but on the threshold of the new coa- ditions confronting her, and she feels A strangeness and an uncertainty of action. But there is nothing more sure than that she will grip her chance, and step courageously through the doorway of sex equality that is opening to her.

The advent of feminism into the public life of Great Britain will be the precursor of startling changes and transformations in the ultimate framing of our |legislation.

Without synupathy, justice and mercy no country can hope to be great; and as those qualities are possessed in a far greater degree by women than men, we shall see (as time passes, and women ac- custom themselves to their new conditions by organisation) our laws leavened with these bounti- ful qualities.

Most

women possess an almost infallible intuition, which, subs tantiated with the brilliant intell- ects possessed by many of the leading women of to-day and incorporated with the practicability and experience of men, should place our laws on a more equitable basis, eliminating many of the axe-grinding policies that have prevailed in the past.

The enfranchisement of women has placed six millions of them on the electoral rolls of Great Britain. And when this huge mass of iaexperienced voters is welded into a smoothly-working political organisation, it will carry sach immense influefce that attention roust and will be paid to their demands.

Two years ago, about 20 Wo- |men's Institutes existed in Britain. There are now S001 800 Clubs or Institutes, call them what you will, within two years! They are the meeting places where women gather together to plan and to learn how to overcome, the diffi- calties and intricacies of political work. To learn to form them- selves into a sabile force where- with to altimately realise their ambitions.

Soon these Institutes will spread in their thousands, to every town and village in the country- It is then that the ideals of women will be pourel forth by speech and propaganda, to gather, in snowball fashion, the support, not only of the women voters, but of many men. From the hysterical helpless female of the Victorian period, has evolved the present-day business or working woman. Self-reliant, courageous, and with а splendil physique |developed. by work and exercise, she is able to contribute her share of labourand enterprise so the country's welfare.
