Galway as an Ocean Port. Mr. R. Worthington, in s letter to the Loughrea District Council states there was a strong effort being made by the promoters of the Blackscd Bay project to have that port substituted for Galway. In 1912 the Council, he pointed out, passed a resolution in favour of Galway as a Transatlantio port, and it would therefore be desirable to intimate direct to the Lord Lieutenant and Chief Secretary that the Council adhered to the terms of their former resolution, and are still of opinion that a port at Galway would best serve the interests of the crunty and Ireland generally The Council decided to reaffirm their former resolution, copies to be sent to the Lord Lieutenant and the Chief Secretary.
