CRUELTY TO BRITISH PRISONERS.

A Fresh Record of German Inhumanity.

London, October 15.

Appalling stories of the sufferings of British taken prisoner in the last spring cffensive are recorded by a Committee presided over by Mr. Justice Younge.. They add yet another black and unfor. gettable chapter to the volume of Germsa war ishamanities.

The report shows that the prisoners were compelled to serve Germen gune on pain of summary execation. Prison campe were often located near the German front line; consequently the oscapents were frequently killed by British gooire.

Almost incredible, yet carefully sifted, accounts are published of how the prisoners were provided with most meagre quantities of bread and coffee as their ecle mesne of suelenarca. They were not provided with any form of shelter, heat, warmth or even water for washing. They were forced to work hard seven days a week and cruelly meltreated by sentrier. They were reduced to collecting netiles se food. Even the doctors violently seasalted their British patients.
