SHIPPING NEWS.
The Chosen Yusen Kaisha. According to a report, the re-eipts of the Chosen Yuson Kaisha during the last half year have shown a great increase as compared with the corresponding poried of last year. This is principally due, says the. Seoul Press," to the fact that, as other steamship companies in the mother country and. Kores were unable to despatch as many vessels as they could desire owing to the shortage of bottoms, the number of passengers and the quantity of cargo carried by the Company's vessels during the period were much greater than in preceding years. ... In addition, itslice has been extended to Osaka and Kobe, and the freight rate and passenger fares have also been raised. On the other hand, however, the expenditure of the Company during the period was also larger

On the 16th ultimo the Bhipping Control Committee held a meet ing and cors dered the question of offering 150,000; tone Rlead- weight of shipping for the Allied service on the Atlantic." The arrangements for securing the necessary tonnage were 'agreed upon, but no decision has yet heen reached conceruing the rate at which the vessels are to be rhartered to the Allies and the question of insuráñoë. Of the 151,000 tone required; 60,000 tons are to be obsided from the Nip- pon Yusen Kaisha, 25,000 tons froth the Osiks Bhosen Kaisha, and 15,400 tons from the Toyo
