Messrs, Benjamin and Potts, in their share report, dated Friday, the 24th of August, 1917, slate:-
We have once again to report a dull week in our local market, with very few transactions recorded. Exchange is still on the upward grade and ha, reached a further high record, and the market has naturally suffered in consequence. Most investment stocks have had a „abarp drop dating the pek, holders wishing to take advantage of the bigh exchange, and being willing to sell at what may be considered very cheap ra 168, but there are few bayers in évidence. Speculative stocks have not come in for much support.
The Shan ghai market remains in the same depressed state, with quotations for all Cotton down.
The Bings pore rubber share market has kept steady and rates are about the game as laat week. Plantation rubber cones through st 2/51, market stendy,/!
