London, Dec. 13.-At the Cen-: tral Criminal Court yesterday, before the Reorder, Archibald Eyles, 36, tutor, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment in the. second division for forging and attering a cheque for 85. The cheque form came from a cheque- --book baionging to an Army officer, who had lost it. The prisoner filled the form up for £5 and forged the name of Mr. Ben Davies, the singer, to it, and asked a friend to cash it. It was very clumsy forgery, and it was urged on the prisoner's behalf that be was desperately ill at the time be did it and on the verge of starvation.
