Diesel Motors at Hamburg, The Allgemeine- Elektricitats G sellschaft is about to erect engineering works in Hamburg for the purpose of building 'two- stroke marine Diesel motors and large motor vessels.
The River, at Tientsio. Tientsin River, in the midd'e of December, is reported to have had a considerable amount of ice in the lower reaches as far as Fourth Catting which the ice- breakers were succeedingin keep ing on the move 6 daye, 338 lectric "hipping and Engineering."

Good water was reported in the river, the highest tide on the Bar being 16ft. 3in. Tientsin Reach has also improved in consequence the dredging that has been carried out.
Internal combustion engines.
During the year 1915-16 seven vesiels classed by the Society have been fitted with Die.cl engines. Three of these were built by Messra. Hailand and Wolff, Ltd., and engined by Messrs. Eurmeister and Wain, Glasgow, and the remainder were built and engined by Mekarz. Burmeister and Wain, Copen- hagen. There are now 46 vessela holding the Society's classification which are fitted with engines of this type, and, in addition, there are at present in course of con- struction under the Society's survey, over 30 sets of thess engines. It may be remarked that 12 of the 46 vess Is are equipped with Wer spor" four cycle Diesel engine. In addition tɔ
