The Osaka Asahi's "special correspondent at San Francisco wire that the Osaka Shnsen Kai- sha will shortly open a Branch of its own there. Up to the present the Company's interests there have been looked after by the Toyo Kisen Kaishia. He also wires that the Sumitomo Bank will open its Branch Office there

Tientsin Shipping.

The total number and tornage of vessels which entered and cleared the port of Tientsin dur ing the quarter ended March 1916 was 261 vessels of 296,898 tons which was an increase of eighty- two vessels and 74,505 tors over The same quarter of the previous year. The percentages were 42.2 British, 34.1 Japanese, 18.4 Chinese and 5.3 French, Nor- wegian and Russian.
