New Swedish Service. Such satisfactory development has been shown by the Swedish steamship traffic with Persia that the Ewedish Transatlantic Company: contemplates the es- tablishment of a regular service. In May and June, it is stated, two steamers with full cargos left Sweden for t'e Persian Gulf, and the cargo for a third was on hand, but no vessel was immediately available.

According to a message re- ceived by the Japanese author- ities, says the "Mainichi,” the Indian Government has issued a notification to th effect that in future no clearance permit will be given to ships entering Indian ports unless they possess certain qualification fixed by the British Government, such as a cartifi- cation of Lloyd's examination. Hitherto this rule has been in force only in some Indian ports, but in future it will be put into operation in all.
