The Chairman eaid:-Gentle men,The Directors of the Union Insurance Society of Canton, Ltd, having provisionally agreed to the #cheme for the amalgamation of the two Companies, there is ovary reason to believe that their ahareholders will also do so and that it will be carried into effect. It is therefore noessary to make the alterations in our Articles of Association as set forth in the noties convening the meeting which has just been
read. As it is possible that the gint of these alterations is not apparent to all of you, I will briefly explain them.
Article No. 19 limite the nam- ber of sharsa any one shareholder may hold to 1,000, and as the "Union" will acquire the majority of the shores of this Company it is necessary to eliminate this
article.
The alteration in Article No. 50 simply shortens the notice to be given when calling a meeting. Artiolo No. 53 provide that
