Coal and other Mites In China, According to recent invaetiga- tions made by the Agricultural and Commercial Department, in Ohine there are 12 coal mines, 2 iron minca, 1 nickel mine and 2 antimony mines. At present, the annual output of coal aggregates 15,000,000 tons, while 868,000 tons of iron are taken out. Should the minas be worked with modern mohinery, the outpat would be tenfeld ile amounts now pro duced.

Timber Output of Hokkaido, Japan.-
The estimated, amount of' im- port of Hokkaido timber to Manchuria this year is about 100,000 pieces of timber each of a foot square and 12 ft. in length, valued at abcat Y250,000 which is about half the total of last year. The average annual importe from Hokkaido to Manoharia bave arely sunk below Y500,000 before and this falling-off in due {t the general business depression in consequence of the Wer as well as to the comparatively large stock held over from last year. The timber season of this year wAS

about a month owing to the belated thawing season.
