Compared with the first half of last year, the total production in the United Kingdom has fallen from 140,- 000,000 tone to just under 128,000,000. For the same period exports of coal have gone down from 36,000,000 to 23,000,000 tons; and the amount shipped for steamers in foreign trade from 10,000,000 10 a little over 7,000,- 000 tons. The difficulty is the same encountered in munition worka and cow threatened among the railway workers--that the men do not realise either their re- sponsibilities or the magnitude of the struggle, but there is no doubt that with many of them there is a genaine belief that they are being exploited for the benefit of private Owners, and it
