Calcutta Tos Sale. The thirteenth tes sale of the season was held at Caloutta on August 24th when about 25,000 packages were offered. The quality, according to Messre. Lloyd and Carter, was irregular, and poorish. The market was easier all round, especially the poor qualities.

American and Indian Cotton,
After repeated advances on the New York cotton market, a fall of 30 sen was reported on Monday, but Tuesday's advices again res ported a rise of from 60 to 75 sen. According to advices re- ceived on Wednesday, the New York market has further advano. ed about Y1, Good Middling be ing quoted at about Y39. Advices received on Tuesday reported arise of from 30 to 50 een, and further rises of about 70 sep, and of about 30 BOK aro Toporiad⚫ for new and old cotton respective- ly by advices received Wednesday. According to re- turze published by the Indian Government, as quoted by the Asahi, the prea under cotton measures 20,450,000 acres, and the prospective yield of cotton is 4,000,000 balea, This shows a decrease of 950,000 bales in com- parison with the actual yield of last year. The quantity expected to be available for the Bombay market is about 2,500,000, in- olading about 150,000 bales of old option,
