Shanghai, September 24, 2.35 p.m. Macfarlane, the Shanghai Municipal Gaol warder, who shot his wife on August 17, was contenced to death at Shanghai to-day. It waAB alleged that the prisoner was drunk and that on entering the house he hit his servant with the butt of the gun and then shot bis wife in the head. Death was instantaneous. He then fired two shots at a lady caller, who, although wounded in the legs, escaped with Macfarlane's two children.
