was brought against him, they refused to pay the amount of wages due to him. He reported the matter on the 26th to the Mastor Attendant who sent for the owners, but the only satisfac tion he got, was that the owners, although bringing no chargo, did not like to pay. The Master Attendant informed the owners that they were to pay the wages, plus one months in lieu of notice. The Master Attendant read the articles of agreement and the owner produced an agreement, which he stated was signed by plaintiff in the Company's office, and was told it was not worth the paper it was written on, Plaintif was unable to sign off unless he forfaited the money.

Cross-examined: I am a me. ber of the Straits Merchant Servios Guild, the solicitors for whom. are Messrs Sisson and Delay, I went once to see them, I went to Mr Yarborough's office with Mr Everitty to see the papers. An enquiry was held by the Merchant Service Guild in connection with my claim. The Guild takes up the cases of its members if they are ill-treated. A meeting was subsequently held, to decide whether or not I was entitled to assistance and as I was in arrears with my subscription, it won decided that I was not. I do not know what advice was given by Messte. Sisson and Delay. I was $4 in arrears with my subscrip- tion. I have been a member of the Guild since August last. One document was signed by me. The
