The steamer Tung Wo, built by the Shanghai Dock and Engineer- ing Company for the up-river. trade of the Indo-Chine S.N. Co., was taken over the Seven Mile, Roach course on her official trials on June 13. Some sixty goesta availed themselves of the invita tion of the Dock Company to wit- ness the trials, which were most satisfactory. Four runs were done over the measured mile, the mean speed of the four runs working. out at 10.9 knots, the contract apeed being 9.75 kote. She is 242ft. Gin. Tong by 40ft, moulded breadth and 10ft, moulded depth with a gross tonnage of 1,150 aud a deadweight capacity of 1.000 tons on a mean draft of 7ft. 3in. Large first class European and Chinese saloons, and the nanol state-room 'accommodation, furnished with all the latest. fittings for the comfort of the passengers, are on the saloon deck, and on, the main deck is accommodation for twenty-four" second class and 180 third-class passengers, a feature of the tweendeck accommodation being Wabow that it is fireproof, all banks and ...2nd half June fittings being of steel.
