Development of Fanling. We have just seen the plans of sn eighty thousand dollar hotel for Fanling. The venture is a. modest one, to accommodate 50 to 100 people, but it is the first step towards providing what is gen erally recognised as a want in that much favoured locality. The details of the scheme are set forth in a prospec'us which has already. been issued to interested parties, and it is hoped by all wellwishers of the New Territory that enough money will be raised to worrent the enterprise being proceeded with and to jasdify the confidence of the promoters in the future of Fanling. The ideal is to erect the hotel on a site in olose prox imity to the railway station, in order to facilitate transport to and from Hongkong and to cater specially for week end parties,, who would enjoy the garden, tennis court, putting green, bowl ing lawn and other attractions to be provided, or who would ap- preciate the restful quiet of a brief sojourn in the district an n- relief from the noise and sQUETY of life in the city
