COMPANY REPORT.

The Report for presentation to the Shareholders at the forty-first Ordinary meeting of the Union Insurance Society of Canton, Ld., to be held at the Society's Offices at noon on Friday, 17th April, is as follows:-

The Board has now to lay before the shareholders a balance sheet containing a summary of the pro- perty and liabilities of the Society on the 31st December, 1913, and. a statement of accounts to the 'same date,

1912 Ancount.-After payment of the interim dividend of $30 per share and the bonus of 20 per coat. to Contributors passed at the last annual meeting. there remains a balance of $966,142.11, as per ounexed statement.

The Board recommends that an interim dividend of $30 per 'share be paid to shareholders. absorbing $372,000.00, and that a bonus of 20 per cent. be paid to contributors, absorbing about $250,000.00, and that romainder be carried forward.

Directors:-Since the last general meeting the directors have had to deplore the death of their late colleague, Mr. G. Fries- land, Mr. Fr. Lieb and Mr. F. H. Armstrong have resigned their sesta and Mr. E. Goetz, of Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg & Co., and Mr. P. H. Holyoak, of Messrs, Reise & Co., have joined the Board.

President Yuan Shih-kai has sent a letter to the Constitution Conference proposing that the privileges and allowances conferred upon the Imperial Family be included in the revised Constitution.
