ANOTHER SHANGHAI ASSASSINATION,
WELL-KNOWN CHINESE PUBLISHER SHOT DEAD.

Shanghai. Received Jan. 12. Mr. Ho, the manager of the Commercial Press, was assassinated in Henn Road on Saturday evening.
The assassin wa an ex-policeman from the native city. He was captured afar's short hut exciting chase, in the course of which he fired at and bit Mr. Ho's maino.
Mr. Ho was coming out of his book store.and was entering his carriage whan the navarria fired on him, The first shot hit a passer-by on the foot, while the recand sa- tered Mr. Ho's chest. The Fassio bolted and was puraned by the mafoo, at whom the reanssin emptied his "revolver, the bullet striking the mafoo's ear.
The assassin then dropped the weapon and ran into a Chicano policeman.
The cause of the crime, it is supposed, is Mr. Ho'a part in calling in foreigners to protect Obapei during the revolt, Mr. Ho, who is a great Chinese publisher, bad been repeatedly threatened.
