The Nanking garrison is reported to be ready to surrender, but it feara massacre and looting, and is consequently determined to defend the city.

CRIMINAL SESSIONS.

The Fausang Murder Case.

This morning at the adjourned Criminal Sessions the Chief Jus- tice, Sir William Rees Davies K.O., and a jury, had before them the case in which Chi Yad-tin is charged with the murder of a person to the Attorney-General unknown, on board the B.8. Fan- sang on June 1.1913.

The prisoner pleaded not guilty.
