no fresh business of any sort has to be recordoil, but clearances, though. far below normaal, have been better then might have been expected on a few days during the week when steamers were clearing for T-ingtau and Nor- thern ports where conditions.are reported to be all in favour of a good business, if it were not for the disorganisation of native finances brought on by the fight- ing in this neighbourhood. Some attempts have been made during the week at resuming auctions on reduced scale but they had to be abandoned owing to the apathy of buyera.
