THE GREAT POLO CONTEST.
The polo contest, between picked teams representing Britain and America commences to-morrow, and it is safe to say that few sporting events of recent years have excited quite the same amount of interest The form of the teams points to a geim struggle for the mestery, and victory will be hardly gained; and sincere congratulations will be offered to, and deserved by, the winner. But the mere question of victory, though no one will deny its importance, is not of more consequence than the greater purpose served by such contests, in more firmly cementing international friendships and in promoting a healthy rivalry in the world of sport.
