Lord Wolseley's Humour. In the popular mind (says the "Manchester Guardian") Lord Wolseley had no sense of humour,
bat there is no doubt that he had
AMERICAN MAIL.
The P. M. 8.8. Manchuria left Bán Francisco for Hongkong on the 12th ult, via the usual ports of call.
The P. M. 88 China, voyage 111 ) Out, sailed from Yokohama for Hongkong, via Manila, at day- light on Friday the 25th ult. Her mails have been transferred to the Osaka Shosen Kaisha Lino.
CANADIAN MAIL
The C.P. R. s.s Monteagle left Vancouver, B.C., on the 17th ult., and is dus to arrive at Hongkong on the 10th inst.
[The C. P. R. s.. Empress of India arrived at Vancouver B.C., on the 26th ult., at 8 p.m.
AUSTRALIAN - MAIL.
The E. & A. s.s. Aldenham left. Sydney on the 24th ult, and may be expected to arrive here on the 16th inst.
The E. & A. 9.8. Empire from Sydney etc., left Manila on the 29th ult., at 6 p.m., for this port. and may be expected to arrive here on the 2nd inst., morning.
MERCHANT STEAMERS.
The P. & O. Ceylon, is expected to arrive at Colombo on the 7th inst., at 6p.m.
The P. & O. s.8, Sumatra left Singapore for this port on the 27th jult, at noon, and is due here on
the 2nd inst., at about 5 p.m.
The 8.8. Glenstrae passed the Suez Canal on the 29th ult, for Hongkong via Straits.
The 3.5. Torilla, from Calcutta left Singapore on the 28th ult, and may be expected here on or about the 3rd inst., p.m..
The L.-O. 8. N. 1.5. Suisang from - Calcutta is due at Hongkong on the 10th Inst.
