In the Report of the Committee on Public Accounts a curious instance of waste of money in given. It appears that 48 mooring buoys for the new torpedo range at Loch Long were obtained at a cost of £20 each. Those were found to be too small to support the weight of tho mooring chair owing to the depth of the water. New buoys and to be secured at a cost of £45 each, thus causing considerable lose to tho public.

She put into llozaki (in the Northern Passage) in a damaged condition. The Take- shizan is commanded by Captain Akamatsu. The "Kobe Herakl" states that no particulars are to hand with regard to the accident, but wa shall probably not be far wrong if we connect it with an- other instance of n junk master's carelessness repeating his sido lights.
