THE TIN POSITION, In a special article on tin, the "Penang Gazette" says that tho April consumption was as follows: United Kingilom 1,100 tons, Continent 2,000, America 3,100, total of 6,200 tons. - The visiblo supply on May I was 14,440 tons. The consumption in April fall off somewhat, but it was hardly ex- pected to continue on the sonla recently rondled. Thodiminution |-in -- consumption-is-more-than- counterbalanced by the shortage in the April shipments from the Straits, which only aggregated 8,115 tons, with tho smallest carry-over ever ronombored of oighty tous. These figures bring - down the visible supply on May 1. to 14,440 which is the lowest since April, 1908. In view of this, it is dilicult to see what is to prevent a further advance in values, high thought prosent prices undoubted- ly aro,
