In order to test for gustinoss above the surface, apparatus huis. been designed which registers simultaneously the pull of a kite wire, with the fluctuations therein due to gusts, and the longthe of wire paid out. From the latter, with a knowledge of the vertical angle, the height of the kite can be approximately determinal. A few records have been obtained, and in these the diminution of gustiness with height is clearly apparent
