Before Wr. J. R. Wood, in the Police Coust this morning, Kwal Pul, a filteria the Hoog kong and Whampoa Dock Company, summmen- ed MJ. W. Graham, Works Manager of the Company, for allegid ́assault on Sunday-last Defendant Issued a cross-summons for assault Mr. P. S. Dixon, from Mr. R. A. Harding's office, appoared for the complainest and Mr. W. B. L. Shenton, of Messrs. Deacon, Looker and Deacon, was for the defendant.
The facts of the case having been briefly ouilined the complainiot stated that he earned do cents a day of nice hours. On Sunday last, be went to work at 7am. He was told by the No. 1. fitter to go on board the Kwmgst. He had to go down on a steam-launch alongside the whal. He went with four others, who brought tools with them. He had no tools. He was late that morning. When he got to the whats, "coo'is came up with the tools and the steam-launch was already leaving, the ball. having been rurg. He was unaware that the defendant was on the whaif. He was struck three times and kicked by the defendant. He did not call upon the seam-launch to stop. He did not know why the defendant struck him The blows dealt him were beavy blows. He was not carrying a pale and did not so any. body doing so. After te wasstrack be fan away.
