Up to last evening the strength of the Portuguese land-forces engaged at Colowen was 300 soldiers and five guns.

It le satisfactory to know from the report of Mr. Arthur Chapman, assessor, that the rate- able value of properly in Hongkong shows an increase of over three per cant-in the arrest- mest for the year 1910-1911 us compared with that for the past year.
