JAPANESE STEAMER LOST.
A Moji dispatch states that the steamer Skinko-maru, 2,588 tons,, while loading coal at Moji caught fire at acoli 2p.m. on the 27th ultimo. The fire originated in an oil tank in the engine-room. Assistance was sent by the Water Police, and water was pumped into the engine room, the fire being extinguished in about an hour and a half. It appears that five or six tins of kerosene ell' and five tios of rape seed oil were taken on board the steamer, and it is supposed that sparks from a tio-lamp (Jantera) dropped into the kerosens which was being emptied into the oil tank. The man who was filling the tank was burnt to death, so that the actual cause of the fire is unknown The steamer, is owned, by Mr. Kishimoto Kentaro, of Tojo-mura, Hyogo prefecture.
