VISITORS FOR THE EXHIHITION.
The fact that East is metting West this year ́at' the Japan-British ́ Exhibition at Shepherd's Busli, hay already aroused great interest on the Contineat. It was stated at Monday's banquet at the Hotel Cecil that the booking of the grast Continental railway compacies up to the present ware larger than had besh the case in any previous exhibition.'
From Japan and the Far East, 100, there is a likelihood of a great influx of visitor, The Japanera bave entered into the project with such rest, reinarked one authority, that the wealthier class of nanglacjurer and trader will feel it their duty to follow the exhibits, and spand their holiday in seeing the scope of the venture.
A Pall Mall Gazelle representativa who made inquiries at the chief shipping firms hay- Ing direct communication with Japan found them anticipating good bookings to this coun try during the next month. The, exhibition opens early in May, and at the passage by any route takes about six weeks, it is most probable that intending visitors will book about the middle of April or the beginning of May.
That would cable them to be in Englaod during the most pleasant months of June and July, when the exhibition will be in full swing. At the P. and O. offices an official informed Our representative that they hope for increased bookings, but it was yet too early to form any estimate of the extra' number who would be coming. The company had already arranged that exhibitors should be affarded special ratón for the outward passage, and that this reduction had also been extended to the freights, to be
exhibited..
THE JAPANESE LINES, The Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Japan Mall Steamship Company, Limited) officials bore out this statement, but intimated that their reductions applied for the return journey. This lice comes direct.to Marseilles, where passengers have the option of the överland rante or of continuing the whole journey to London by sen.
