THE WEATHER:

The following report in from Mr. F.G. Figg, Director of the Hongkong Observatory :— '

On the 17th at 12.10 p.-The' barometer has fallen slightly over the Annam coast and

the Southern Philippines, and risen moderately

over Japan.

The low pressure noted yesterday off S. Annam is probably a regular depression.. It] appears to have moved Westwärds and lies now off the Cochin Chinn_spari_to_the_South_of_ Cope St. James.

The anticyclonic area remains over the con- tinent to the North of the Yangtze, but pressure is giving way over N. China.

'Strong monsoon may be expected · in the Formosa Channel, and monsoon gales over the N. pan of the China Sea.
