APPROPRIATION FOR THE NAVY. · It has been reported that the Canton Govern- ment bas promised to appropriate a sum of three hundred thousad taels from the Provin cial treasury towards the funds for the re organisation of the Chinese aary. It is now learnt that the, Cánion Government undertake to provide a like sum of money for a period of four years commending from this year to make up the total of one million two hundred thous and taels as Kwangiung's contribution towards. the re-construction of the navy, besider a sum of two hundred thousand taala to be remitted.to Poking annually for its, maintenance.
